It’s 1925, and Sam Dodsworth has just sold his successful automobile company and set off on a European vacation with his wife, Fran. Sam expects to spend a few months traveling before returning to business, but Fran becomes enamored with European culture, and unhappy with small town life, favors staying in Europe permanently. Sam and Fran are forced to reassess both their lives and future marriage.

Great Reading; Tedious, Depressing Story

Mark's reading, as usual, was masterful, and the only entertaining aspect, of the book. Neither the story, nor the characters are engaging. This was clearly written, by someone with a less than honorable agenda, towards someone else - an effort to make himself seem the victim of a vile woman, with no redeeming qualities. Even that effort fails, as Sam, the "protagonist" just comes off as a wishy washy enabler, that one quickly becomes frustrated with.
