Nelson Olmsted was one of the last great radio horror performers. Born Leroy Nelson Olmsted, Jr. in Minnesota, he became an announcer for local radio stations in Texas. His storytelling show, which began in 1939, showcased his unique ability to bring literature to life, particularly the works of Edgar Allan Poe.
