Silas Marner is a hermit-style weaver who keeps to himself and is eyed with suspicion by those in the nearby town of Raveloe. Dispelled from his religious community as a young man after being accused of a crime, Marner finds solace in weaving and in gold. But the disappearance of his treasure and the appearance of a small child change the apparent course of his life entirely. - Summary by Sarah Bacaller

Reseñas

Extraordinary piece of literature

(5 estrellas)

The writing reminds one of Dickens in its wholesome warmth and its hearty stock of lovable characters with their home-grown eccentricities, but adds to this a keenly honest psychological depth that draws one still further in, and a pervading consciousness of God that enriches it all the more.

Love the book, great readers

This is a lovely sweet book, even when it started all going bad. The readers were wonderful, I'm thankful to all of them.
