Abbott and Costello - Single Episodes

(4 Sterne; 8 Bewertungen)

Abbott and Costello were an American comedy duo composed of Bud Abbott and Lou Costello, whose work on radio and in film and television made them the most popular comedy team of the 1940s and early 1950s. Their patter routine Who's on First? is one of the best-known comedy routines of all time, setting the framework for many of their classic bits.

The duo first worked together in 1935 and quickly became a sensation, known for their rapid-fire repartee and comedic timing. They launched their own weekly radio show on October 8, 1942, which mixed comedy with musical interludes and featured a variety of guest stars. Their influence on comedy remains significant, and their routines continue to entertain audiences today.

This recording is part of the Old Time Radio collection.

Enough cannot be said about this legendary comic duo. And this collection of their radio program is a jewel - thanks for compiling and uploading this! Although more well-known for their work on TV and film and on stage, the interplay between them was perfect for radio, and their show is one of my all-time favorite classic comedy radio programs. Every episode is a gem - thank goodness so many episodes have been so well-preserved for us future generations to enjoy!

I'd like to know what happens just before the start of each program when the audience is already laughing when the mike comes on. (98) "Who's on first?" (orig. from 1940) A lot of the radio humour at that time was based on insults. However, "more" is a relative word. One is 'more' than zero!
