Charles Russell as Johnny Dollar melds thrills and laughs well

I was only three when this incarnation of Johnny Dollar with Charles Russell was on the air, so I didn't know the stories, and am slowly and happily going through the complete show as gloriously maintained here by our curators and archive. Kudos for all their selfless work keeping our creative history of radio, indeed, American and World culture. Charles Russell gets into a rhythm with this incarnation of Dollar, and as written really does meld the comedic commentary (occasionally overdone to my taste) with action and adventure. Some of the cases are pretty routine, but there are oddball adventures that really give the listener a twist of location and action. The usual clichés (now called tropes?) are involved, especially women. However, the support actors are always what makes so much more of this series, the writing, and the musical "stings" are well done and show-specific. If you're looking for one or several to try, I'd like to offer 15 The Racehorse Piledriver Matter, or 19 The Island of Tin-Yutan, and by 22-25 Matters, you have a good summation of this body of work by Charles Russell as Yours...Truly, Johnny Dollar.
