Casey, Crime Photographer

Lady in Distress

NBC (1947)

by

Lady in Distress is a run-of-the-mill Casey episode, enjoyable and entertaining, but nothing that makes it stand out. Parts of the script are not really believable, which makes it fitting that it was one of those selected to be adapted in the Casey comic book. The Casey radio program is understood best if considered as an audio comic book in its plotting, acting, and production style.

In this episode, we follow 'Barbecue Tom' Morrissey, a Texas cowboy who is approached by a beautiful Southern belle claiming her life is in danger. As the story unfolds, Casey discovers that the girl, Mary Belle, is a socially prominent heiress who has gone missing after a mysterious encounter. The plot thickens with twists involving a nightclub, a potential kidnapping, and a blackmail scheme.

Join Casey as he navigates through clues and deception to uncover the truth behind Mary Belle's disappearance, leading to an exciting resolution.
