The script for Self-Made Hero was used twice before, on March 18, 1944, and July 8, 1944. Unfortunately, recordings of those broadcasts do not exist, nor are there any newspaper clippings of plotlines. This 1947 broadcast seems to be a sudden shift in scheduling, as newspapers and the CBS publicity release had Photo of the Dead listed as this week's episode, which was delayed to the next week.
This particular script does not include Captain Logan, who was not in every episode during the first three seasons. The character's absence raises questions about the scheduling decisions made at the time. The storyline involves a teenager staging a holdup to impress his girl, leading to unexpected heroism. Overall, this entry in the series is considered disappointing, as it was pulled from earlier scripts before the series reached its higher standards under new sponsorship.
