Casey, Crime Photographer
Tooth for a Tooth
1946-07-15
Today's show posting is one that befuddled collectors for years. Most copies of the episode were in awful sound, and it was often listed as "Truth... or Tooth?" in catalogs. The audio quality on this page has much greater clarity and range, making it more listenable than previous recordings.
The script, written by Charles Holden, involves a premonition of death and a dental mystery. Casey, the protagonist, uncovers a sinister plot involving a fake dentist and a missing person. The episode cleverly engages listeners, allowing them to feel like they are solving the mystery alongside Casey.
This episode marks a significant moment in the series, as it was the last surviving one broadcast on a sustaining basis before sponsorship by Anchor-Hocking Glass improved production quality. The series became one of radio's most highly rated shows during this time.
This recording is part of the Old Time Radio collection.
