The Reunion
This is the first Casey episode in circulation written by Alonzo Deen Cole. Cole came to some prominence as the driving force behind The Witch's Tale. According to Cole, he was hired about five weeks into the Casey series to improve the storytelling consistency.
This episode features a plotline where Irene, separated from her husband Kurt, receives a mysterious phone call. When she doesn't return, her cousin asks Casey and Ann to investigate, leading to a dramatic revelation involving a life-sized statue. The story plays on superstitious beliefs, a frequent element in Cole's writing.
For decades, this episode was difficult to enjoy due to poor audio quality, but a network copy emerged in the mid-2010s with much better sound. This entry into the series showcases Cole's ability to entertain with basic storytelling tools.
